I think i do need to upgrade my board, but the funds aren't available right now. The board i have has the cheap Velcro boots that just go around your foot. I think a better boot might help too.
I'm by no means a expert when it comes to wakeboarding, but bindings make the biggest difference. If money is tight, keep the same beginner board and upgrade the bindings. Those velcro bindings actually make it a little more dangerous. Basically, you want to keep your feet stuck to the board when you fall. If your foot pops out in mid-flight or on minor falls, there is a lot of leverage that can act on the other leg with the board twisting. Personal Experience: when I was sixteen and slalom skiing, my back foot came out when I fell. Results: broken growth-plate in the knee (4 month full leg cast). Upgrade those bindings!
