Post subject:  Hydrofoil?

Hello,

I am having trouble getting my boat to plane whenever I have a few adults in the back of the boat. It can be a pain telling everyone to sit in the front for water sports...
(2009 F204)
I have the Volvo Penta 5.0 dual prop, 270hp, but I'm in Colorado and the altitude is a killer on our power here. I also have the high altitude gearing.

I was told to try a hydrofoil and or swap out my props. After a lot of reading on this I am seeing many opinions, mostly smaller boats are happy with it, and larger ones are not. Anyone with experience on this matter willing to chime in?

The price is sure right, but I would regret drilling into my motor if I later pulled it off because it did not perform.

I put one on my Wellcraft 170 with 115hp Yamaha outboard, and it made a pretty big difference. I was glad I put it on. Little smaller than your boat though. But I think that Overtons sells a no drill clamp for one of there hydrofoils, that may work.

I forgot to ask if anyone knows whether or not this will void my warranty?

Thanks

Hey I have the same boat you do (F204) and had the same problem. I added a hydrofoil to mine and you can see my post here from the "Engine, Drive, Prop" section of Care and Feeding
