Hi guys!

I have a 2000 H180, 5.0 VP GL. I was out all day on the lake. We left a beach and were heading for the launch.

As soon as I shifted to reverse to leave the beach, I heard and felt and clunk. Now I'm floating 10 ft from the shore. I try to shift into forward gear. The first time, it was like i was revving it up. No forward motion.

I returned to neutral. I tried forward again. the boat started moving in reverse. I was shocked. I shifted to neutral again. Then I tried to shift to reverse. Nope!. Something was stopping me from moving the shifter to reverse direction.

I ended up driving back to the launch in reverse gear.

I came back and started looking here for answers. I removed the shift linkage cover on the SX drive. Everything looked fine there. I checked my drive fluid - fine also.

Any thoughts would be great!
