This is the first time I've ever heard anyone report such a noise. Fluid OK?

Could be the gimbal bearing. Could be that they forgot to tighten the clamp around the drive bellows and water has entered. With the gimbal the sound should be there in or out of gear. How loud is it?

Its not loud but I also have hyper sensative hearing. Since I haven't ridden in another h190 I dont have anything to compare it to.

Last week we had an oil pressure sender leaking oil into the bilge. The dealer, who is a really cool guy, fixed that and checked a bunch of other stuff while he had it. It leaked about a cup of engine oil. He made a few adjustments and said his guys spent 2 hours looking for any other problems. He has ridden in it and said the baot runs really well. I assume based on his recent lookthru that the fluids are all okay. It is also going in for 20 hour service in a week or so....

Maybe Im just paranoid.

My two engines sound a bit different. One at idle is a tad quieter than the other. The sound difference I've isolated to the belts. It seems the port engine (Moe) has a slightly higher pitched sound than the Starboard engine (Larry) Of course, Curly (genset) sounds completely different....

I hope Joe and Shemp weren't left out. Maybe the dual batteries?

I would assume that the engine belts have been checked for the proper tension?

Since we are talking about funny noises... my 1998 258 vista with the duoprop outdrive makes an interesting noise, when put into gear(forward or reverse) it makes a single thump noise. Not a grinding noise, it almost feels like someone hits the stern with a hammer.

Thanks and good luck.

its not the engine belts for sure its drive train rotation noise. My concern is that the noise may or maynot be normal. I have nothing to compare it to.
