While working on the boat this weekend I noticed my exhaust bellows is split.  I had the drive pulled last fall and was told the U-joint and shift bellows are in good shape. I'm going to REALLY inspect them again next weekend just to be safe. My question is for you Merc owners. Has anyone installed the newer exhaust tube option in place of the bellows? If so how much louder does it make the exhaust sound? |

Just put one on this spring. Noise at idle is a little louder but not much - the cuff butts right up against the exhaust port on the drive when the drive is all the way down. On plane, it's a little louder but not obnoxious. If your exhaust bellows is split, you may not notice a difference in sound, as you effectively have the same thing with the split bellows. |

Thanks. It looks like the tube is the way to go. Easier to install without removing the drive, and everything I've read so far says the sound and performance is actually better. |
