I have 1994 195 Sundowner. Recently, I have noticed a vibration that appeared infrequently. I found the vibration the other day when I was at an idle and turned the steering wheel to the left. The steering pump is full of fluid. I can not identify where the vibration is coming from.

I wonder if this can be caused by the engine being slightly out of alignment?

Was the outdrive up or down when you were turning?
Vibrations when turning are often caused by worn u-joints.

A small amount of uni joint vibration is normal.
How much you have compared to normal, is the million dollar question!

Have you ever had a lower unit service? (lower unit pulled off , checked , alignment checked, Gimble bearing check, U - joints checked). I would recommend having it done just to make sure. Losing a u-joint would not be a fun time. I had mine checked out this year and it only ran me $160.00. Money well spent , peace of mind.

The out drive is in the down position. The vibration is definitely not normal. I have not had the lower unit services in quite a while. Sounds like it may be time. thank you for the feedback.

Yep. We do it once a year here in the salt pond or else. The weekend after I winterize the boat the drive comes off and I check out the bellows, gimble bearing, u-joints, input shaft seal, etc.
One of the best things I ever bought was an outdrive jack. Makes it a lot easier.
