Post subject:  Oil pressure sensor vs iac

I had intermittent warning beeps (not continuous, and not 2 beeps per min, more chaotic) after several days on Lake Cumberland. No gauges abnormal (normal temp, oil pressure, depth finder, etc) no idling problems or engine cutting out. Made it out fine and ultimately took it in to repair shop. Computer read the beep alarm apparently to be from faulty oil pressure sensor, and this was replaced. part # 881879T11 . I have a merc 6.2 l 350 mag bIII, 2005. when leaving the repair yard one of the mechanics asked if the dirty IAC was the only problem that was found. He said he had checked that before the other mechanic had computer hooked up, and said he cleaned it out and the engine responded immediately with inc rpm? He said he never heard beeps when he worked on it. I know that a faulty IAC commonly causes idling and starting problems which I did not have.
My questions are: could a faulty IAC have been what tripped the alarm? And did I really need a new oil pressure sensor replacement (which was around $400 including labor and part)? Also, where is the oil pressure sensor on my engine and how hard is it to replace? I know the IAC is about 70 bucks and a breeze to replace. Should I go ahead and put in a new IAC?
