Hey guys I need a little help. I had some issues with my 2006 funship today. It has a MerCruiser 5.0 mpi v8 in it. First, while running along I started getting an alarm ( 2 beeps about every 60 seconds ). All the gauges looked good, oil pressure 40 psi and temp was 175 so it wasn't over heating. I slowed down and brought the boat back to neutral and it shut off. After that it would only crank. I could open the throttle about 1/2 half way and crank it and it would then start and run with no missing or loss of power but as soon as I brought it back to idle it would cut off again. Finally I was quick enough to trick it and got the boat into gear while running and got back home. Also on the way home I noticed no power loss. So in short the boat will not idle. It will only start if I give it about 1/2 throttle. Any help would be greatly appreciated. |

Your IAC is bad.( Idle air control) About $100.00 for the part. Out of curiosity does your engine have around 400-500 hours? |

That confirms what I was thinking. As for the hours, according to my meter it has roughly 250 hours on it. I bought it last year as a bank repo. |
