Ok so last time I was out the tach read 3000 rpms at wot. I pulled the boat out this morning as I am getting ready to head out and warmed the engine up. I noticed that with the boat off and the all power killed to the guages the tach is showing 400 rpms instaed of being at 0. Do I need to replace the tach now?

Todd

Your Tach is absolutely reading "wrong"!! (but you should verify with another one if you have one or can borrow one...)

You might also check all the connections and wiring. If that doesn't fix it you probably need a new tach. You can probably expect to pay about $60 for one....

If you have a Boaters World nearby, you might get a "swinging" deal because by June, most of the stores will have closed...

3000 at wide open throttle? Something is wrong.

That would be true if the boat doesn't go the same speed at WOT as it did before when the tach was reading "right"........

If it's still going the correct speed (or it's close) then the tach is defective.

Do you have a hand held GPS to check the speed?

No hand held yet for gps speed but I am working on that. Boat runs great and strong. Plenty of speed and power. I will try and get my hands on a tach to check it.
