I'm debating if I should have my props checked/tuned this winter. They don't have any dings, but they did hit the sand once or twice while backing to the beach. How often should this service be done? Anyone have a ballpark price on what this should cost for set of Volvo DP F4's? Thanks!

I think I paid about $120 per set to have my F5's hand balanced and polished by http://www.midwestpropeller.com (they're local to me, so no shipping). Mine weren't damaged but it did lessen vibration very slightly. The DP props are balanced at the factory - but it's done before the hubs are installed, so the finished product can be slightly out of balance.

Still, I'd say if you don't see or feel any damage, it's probably money that doesn't need to be spent.

There is a great shop in Grand Rapids, MI just north of downtown that will do it for under $100. 847 Ionia Avenue Northwest, Grand Rapids, MI 49503-1415

I had mine done for $125 this year. There are things that lurk under the water on my lake that like to to eat props.

Airmarine by Midway Airport is the best in the Chicago Land area. http://www.therightprop.com/index.html

They did mine. They usually run a deal during the off season. They also are at the Chicago Boat Show if you want to talk to them. The do everything from small props to the barge props. Impressive operation.

Thanks for the input Guys! I think talking to Airmarine at the boat show might be my best bet. They are located a short drive from my work so drop off and pick up will be easy!
