I was at my local Princess Auto yesterday and I have had my eye on these for a couple of months now but since the boat is still in storage I was in no rush to buy them.... Good thing they are regularly $60 + 13% tax, had been previously marked down to $50 NOW they are on for $24.97 :o I have looked locally and cannot find true "Boat buckles (SS)" so have been looking for something similar and these seem to fit the bill. I did find some of the boat buckles at Gander Mountain but they wanted $80 US plus taxes and exchange and I couldn't justify it. I will install them in a similar fashion to 230Mike and a shot of Krown every once and a while should keep them operational.

So you Canadian guys check out your local PA! If some of the US guys want some let me know I can pick them up and ship them when I go to Winnisquam sometime between now and May 15. I am going to go buy one more set for the bow and a spare.

That's a great deal! You might buy a spare set in case the first set rusts out in a couple of seasons.

I went to Princess today and the straps were full price $49.95.I didn't think they were worth it.

They were $49.95 here for the longest time too. Either keep watching them (ask an associate and explain the situation they seem to be very "accomodating" for a sale!) or PM me and I can send you a picture of their display so you can show it to your store and maybe get the same price.

I'm going back today to buy another set so I can use one for the bow and have a spare.

I have seen a very similar set at Costco as well for the $25 range. Worth a look if you need a set and happen to be in there. Oh, wait I just noticed yours were bolt on . . . I better go look at PA for spares at that price

Yeah these are bolt-on units and are very stout. Here's an image of the boat buckles at Cabelas
Image

Ouch !!! They want $110 US for the stainless units and $75 for the standard ones. The ones I purchased have 2" wide straps too... I think they will work just as good or better for our purposes.

The originals (and other neat tiedown applications) can be seen here

Those look really nice...but they do not look like they are sold in the US. I can't find them anywhere except for the manufacturers site.

Wet Doggg

If you really want some PM me. I would think the exchange rate would just about cover any shipping.

I will let you know. Your price up there seems perfect. I am going to check a couple places here before I ask you to go through the hassle of these things just yet.

I too bought a couple sets of these for $24.95 each at Princess Auto.

I made up a couple of brackets and installed the two on rear and one on front with one spare.

Seem to be good?!

Here are pictures installed.

You beat me to the rear install ! I have had my front one on for about a month now. Actually I have two back to back since I have a pontoon boat currently on my trailer and I used them to secure the front of both pontoons.
