Sure there is. But towing a boat isn't moving earth or thousands of tons of freight, and I've never heard of a trailer boater who tows their boat over 100K miles per year. I'll bet any amount that my F-150 will go 200K and beyond.

I'm glad you're getting 21mpg in yours. Most diesel trucks don't get anywhere near that. Many folks don't have the knees or the back or the time to change their own oil; while I still do, I don't intend to forever. Finally, what do you base your $17,000 fuel savings on (what truck & mileage, and for how many miles, are you comparing yours)? However you calculate it, I can eliminate a large portion of the number by paying $.50/gallon less for gas, and not paying the higher amount plus more interest for the more expensive engine.

As I said, diesels are great for some applications, but there are many that I don't believe benefit. Towing boats in the 5-6000# class is one of those.

Saying gas powered trucks aren't "real trucks" is silly.
