Hello everyone,
I am new to this site and found this last night while trying to troubleshoot a issue with my starboard running light (LED) on my trailer. I noticed that the light was working the other day while all other lights on the trailer do work. So I bought a replacement and put it on, still not working. Prior to the installation I hooked up a meter and had the power to the wire that feeds this light. So after reading on here last night I came to two ideas as to why this isn't working. The light bolt itself isn't grounded to the trailer or by trailer ball is not properly grounding to the trailer itself. My trailer has the gatorhyde on it and I was thinking about sanding a very small porting around the mounting hole to ensure a proper ground for the light and replacing the ball. The ball I am currently using has a fair amount of rust on it. I welcome any ideas on correcting this. Looking forward to using this site in the future, as far as I have seen there is a wealth of knowledge on this board. Thanks..

Clean the rust off the ball, and check your fuses in your truck. The GMs have separate fuses for the trailer wiring (at least my Silverado and Tahoe both did/do)- look in your truck's manual to identify them.
Edit: Just re-read and looks like you confirmed power at the bulb?

Had similar issue on my flatbed trailer...the test light would light up but bulb wouldn't....finally figured the test light had its own ground and bypassed the short in one of the wire connectors.

Every trailer I had grounded through the ground wire on the 4 pin connector, not the ball.
That wire ends up grounding the whole trailer.
If all other lights work then ground isnt the issue. I would check to make sure the light that is inop is getting a good ground to the trailer. If the wire has power, then its either a bad light or ground
