Hey all,

Recently I've been having issues with the brakes on my 2001 FW trailer for my Horizon 180. There doesn't seem to be enough pressure getting to the calipers resulting in not enough pressure on the pads. I can't get any brake fluid to come out the top bleed screw on the caliper however it does come out the bottom screw. I'm using a ratchet strap to pull on the coupler to bleed them.

I'm wondering what this nut is used to adjust as the brakes seem to work better after tightening it some?

Anyone have any suggestions as to what else I should check?

Thanks!

Id suggest you find out who is the maker of the actuator and try to get a manual for it to make sure that you are bleeding it properly. I would not necessarily tighten up that bolt because it could cause the opposite problem (dragging brakes). You probably still have air in the system which is why you don't have adequate braking. I have a Tie Down actuator which is easy to bleed using a large screwdriver.
I use a Lisle one man brake bleeder which works fine; I've never had trouble getting all the air our when I've had to change a wheel cylinder. I have drum brakes, they may be easier to bleed than disc brakes.

Master cylinder full? Fluid clean? I agree about checking with the mfr., you might just not be getting enough force on it while bleeding.
