Boy Mike, You sure do have too much time on your hands! Imagine if you spent that time boating ?!?! :P  This is good information to know and i'm sure all the F2 owners will appreciate your effort.

What about using a roll pin instead? It would expand to apply pressure on the outside surface.

I wish. If I lived at the lake, that's what I'd be doing :) . But with an hour's tow each way and the admiral unable to go, I just take things apart :) .

I can't imagine having to tow for an hour just to go boating. We have so much water around here and with the rain we've been having lately, I could almost boat in some of the puddles!
Honestly, I don't think I would own a boat if I had to put that much effort into getting to it! I guess I am spoiled living right beside the water and being able to keep my boat two minutes walk from my house or a 5 minute drive to the ramp!

Dealer sent me a brand new jack and I got it installed.
My situation was that the pin sheared...and it was not abused. So, maybe a defective pin?? Who knows, but the tongue weight of the SL262 is definitely greater than my old H260 so the jack needs to be pretty stout.

My concern is that the 3/16" pin might simply be too small in diameter. The specs on the ones I'm buying state a double sheer strength of 3,300#, but routine raising and lowering may load that pin closer to that number than you'd think. I plan to keep a spare pin and a punch in the hitch bag.

Original pin and replacement. One sample pulled from the bag measured .003" smaller in diameter, but that's within tolerance and should be OK. Other than being prettier, there's no way to compare strengths since I don't know the source of the original. Anyone know of a shop or lab that can do shear testing?

Mike - any serious machine shop or local metal type manufacturing business should have this capability. Or a heat treat facility for sure. I'm sure they would do it for free for something like this. I wouldn't buy one because you will probably never use it again.

Yeah I just thought it was interesting that someone makes units that size, such that a small business or even an induhvidual could buy one. I'm not going to spend a lot of time looking for someone to test them, but if I can find one easily and cheap I might get it done.

Got to the Marina where the boat has been temporarily (on its trailer) so we could use it and not have to bring it over to the beach each weekend and the trailer jack (which was definitely needing to be replaced) was rusted in place. Tried to crank it enough to get it down on the hitch and the two gears snapped in two.

Lucky West Marine was close by and open and the Fulton F2 was on sale. Temporarily put it on to get the boat up on the trailer and then mounted when home.

Never realized how easy to lift the boat with a good trailer jack. Now my 10 yr old can help crank it up and down.

That's a lotta jack for a 180! :D Looks great though.

Mine's still in the basement waiting on some other projects to get done. I did finally get the weld-on plate from Fulton. It's a really nice piece, if that's possible for a rectangular hunk of steel.
