OK, I like having a reason to go to Bass Pro. You're looking for one that bolts on, right?

I think you guys should consider the set up I got from Champion Trailers...its much stronger than any of those straps and half the price of that boat buckle from Bass Pro...they sell a bracket for the trailer frame...a length of chain similar to that used for safety chains...and a turnbuckle with a loop on one end and a hook on the the other....you attach the ends of the chain to the turnbuckle and the frame bracked with d-rings...and just get the chain cut to the right length....the hook of the turnbuckle goes in your bow eye....simple and very strong...

Lou I've looked at Champion Trailers website, can't find anything about this. Do you have a link?

it's not on the website....their website has only a small fraction of what they sell...you need the printed catalog that you can request from their website (the regular one not the one you can order from)....I'd call them and ask about it....you can probably just order it over the phone...then bolt on the bracket....put the hook for the turnbuckle in the bow eye...measure how much chain you need and then get it cut at a hardware store....I'm telling you this thing makes those straps look like a joke.....of course for me since I have a roller trailer and live where there are VERY steep hills it's a bit of a bigger deal...

BTW...on some boats you will not be able to tilt the hook far enough to get it in the bow eye...so I loosen the ends of the turnbuckle...take it off the d-ring that holds it to the chain...put the hook in the bow eye...reconnect the d-ring and then tighten up the turnbuckle...

I don't disagree with Lou the slightest bit, but just to follow up - if you're inclined to go with a strap solution, I did check out the Cargo Buckle at Bass Pro. (Sorry for the delay, the last couple weeks have been a nightmare as we're in the process of moving our storage unit.) I don't see any meaningful differences between the Cargo Buckle and the Boat Buckle. Both are intended to be bolted on and come with either grade 8 or stainless hardware depending on the model chosen. The only differences I saw were:

1. The controls on the Cargo Buckle are orange instead of gray
2. The release lever on the CB is more like the traditional slide/squeeze type found on other types of "cargo" straps, compared to the "push" type of release found on the BB and stainless BB
3. I didn't see the CB sold individually, only in pairs
4. There seem to be rated capacity differences between all these products - the BB, stainless BB, CB, etc.... yet, the straps appear to be identical between all of them and there are few if any visible differences in the mechanisms.

Don't know if that helps, but there you go. And yeah, none of these will compare to the right chain, with the right anchor mechanism at both ends.

I'm going to put one on my boat, I found this picture and I think it's a good idea. i may change the angle if I can. I do like the turnbuckle idea too.

Here is mine and my new winch. Fulton 1800lb. Handle on the new winch was longer than original so I had to use the old handle.

Thats the Boat Buckle from Bass Pro

One note on the boat buckle, the bolt that comes with it is really long! I had some stainless ones that were much shorter that I used.

I bought a 7/16" stainless acorn nut to finish that bolt. It's only cosmetic and to keep anyone from getting caught on it, the regular nut holds the BB on. The acorn is held on with Loctite.

Here's my setup

I have since drilled a hole in the middle of the angled piece of metal and moved the BB there to straighten out the twist in the strap. I did find out when buying my BB that there are different versions....IIRC, the standard version is around 50 while the version with stainless hardware is around 75. That probably accounts for the difference in price you are finding.
