Do you mean the side guides? I'd have a welding shop fabricate new ones, they'll be better anyway. Have them use a heavier gauge of C channel than that flimsy L channel FW used. Then, just order a can of touch up spray paint from FW.

I'm with Mike on this one... you can have somebody locally fabricate and install something even better. If they are that bad I would be tempted to just remove them completely. My bowrider never had any on the trailer. I am contemplating adding something that will act more like a marker with high taillights so it will be easier for my wife to line up but she doesn't really need the side bunks.

If the side guides were sturdier I think they actually could help ensure that the hull is centered and seats properly on the bunks, avoiding or minimizing the chance that the current pushes it to one side, resulting in a tilted boat and potentially hull contacting and damaging the fender and gelcoat. Since they bend so easily under pressure they become more of a hazard and a nuisance imo.

I torched mine off because the previous owner never cleaned the boat and it needed a really good buffing, and I couldn't get my buffer behind them. I plan to make a new set that are removable for cleaning purposes Kinda miss them when the old mighty Mississippi decides to get rough and choppy. It sucks to load with 2 foot waves hitting the side of the boat. I broke a vent window on the dock last weekend.

I can't tell from the small pics - did he weld flanges onto the lower ends, or are the supports welded directly to the trailer? These are steel I presume? Looks like a nice job and a definite upgrade.

Yeah you can't really tell but they do have a flange welded to the lower end and are bolted to the trailer. I'm not real familiar with what you can and can't weld together but he said galvanized is nasty stuff to weld.
