Just when I thought my mount location was ok, I was backing in to a new ramp last weekend, and my spare tire did rub the ground and move the bracket.. I have mine mounted similar to yours cabwizard. I really like this location, but if you are around uneven ground, it can rub... My tire looks like it can come up another 4 inches without hitting the boat... I am going to have to get creative to figure out how to raise the tire further from the ground. |

Does anyone know how to get the spare tire mount to stop squeaking as I am towing? As it vibrates, it makes a squeaking noise, it is kind of annoying and loud. |

Are you sure the squeak isn't coming from your leaf springs? |

No, it is definitely coming from the spare tire mount. I hit it with my hand and the vibration of that causes the same sound I hear when towing. |

Mine is made from the same thick metal as the trailer. If the u-bolts are tight, and the tire is bolted on there tight, you can hit the tire with your fist and it won't give or vibrate at all... I suspect you could tighten up yours to eliminate the noise... |

Might want to check your jockey wheel.... mine rattled and squeaked whenever I towed - took me ages to find the problem. I simply wound a rubber strap around it and the problem was solved. |

I know this will sound silly, but I put some 3 in 1 oil around the spare tire mount, it appears to have worked...........for the time being. If it happens again, I will try to tighten the bolts or put some kind of rubber gasket material between the u bolts and the trailer frame. Thanks for the suggestions!! |

Digging up an old thread here....since I'm pulling my boat out of the rack storage this year I need to get my spare tire mounted on the frame. I've been looking at various sites and most/all of the mounts say for 4 or 5 lug wheels. My trailer has 6 lug 15" wheels. There are a few mounts for a heftier price that note for 6,7,8 lug wheels. What does everyone have for their mounts? Does the 4 lug mount work with the 6 lug rim as long as it will handle the 15" tire? Thanks. |

I have the six lug's too. Here is the link to where I bought my spare carrier and just bolted it on. http://www.sturdybuiltonline.com/ |
