I have a 2000 214 Funship with the original two-axle trailer. Having trailer issues, with the front axle popping up off the ground when I hit bumps and not going back down. Can use a crowbar to pop it back into place without the boat on the trailer, but not with the boat loaded. What's causnig that to happen and what's the fix. Can't haul the boat with only two wheels on the ground.

You must have a torsion axle, yes?? The springs in it need to be replaced. I would go to there web site for more info on part numbers.

Probably not torsion axles.

Don't know if they are torsion axles or not. How do I tell?

From reading other posts it looks like flipped shackles. Guess they'll need to be repalced. Thanks for the help.

Well, I was premature in thinking my issue with the pop up wheels was the shackles. I've taken the trailer to a repair shop and they can't figure out what the issue is. The wheels can be popped up and back down with a jack or a crowbar. They called Four Winns and got the answer, "yeah, they do that. Just back it into a curb and they'll pop back down." No explanation of why they "do that" and it seems to be a mystery. Anyone else have an idea? Thanks.

Did talk to a guy in the Four Winns department that deals with trailers. He suggest one or both of two things. Check the torque of the nuts on the torsion bar or most likely the springs need to be replaced. Said there was no real way to test the springs to see if they are fatigued or not, but from what I described was happening, the springs may need to be replaced. So, I'll check those two things and see what's next. Apparently the wheels are really supposed to "pop up."
