Put a block under the tongue behind the hinge to take the weight of the trailer and then lift the swing away in front of the hinge. I can lift it with just one arm and pull the pins with the other arm. Otherwise it is very difficult to get a pin out. |

Why dont these trailers have a handbrake fitted to them? Or is there one there somewhere??? Have to use a brick or block. |

In the USA there is no requirement for a handbrake, but in Europe there is so the US trailers that get sold in Europe come with cable operated brakes and a hand brake. I do agree a handbrake would be a good idea. I always carry wheel chocks with me because there are a lot of hills around here. |

Hi fellow Aussie mates and others, my FW H180 trailer has drum brakes. One side has started to rust something bad. The protective paint has come off some time ago. Are they supposed to rust so quick? I am thinking of converting to disc brakes (if they can be on these systems) Has anyone done this? Can it be done with this type of system? Thanks, any comments appreciated. OR new trailer!!! |

The recommendation to "wiggle" the tongue a bit is helpful in finding the sweet spot for removing the pin. Also, be careful when pulling hard on the pin not to bang the top of your hand against the bottom of the winch support stand when the pin finally releases. I've done that once and will never do it again. |

Had the same issue with my 2008. I had to switch between WD-40 and tapping the bottom with a sledge. Afterwards I sanded down the pin with some fine grit paper and used the drum sander on my Dremel on the actual receiver. Afterwards I liberally sprayed lubricant on the pin and replaced it. No problems since - and my buddy says to spray it down real good at the end of the season with lube to keep it operating freely next year. |
