My top used to be suitably tight I think at the stern snaps, with the support pole's adjustabilityaking it easy to loosen or tighten. I didn't trailer with the top stretched taut as a drum however. This is how it looks when all attached.

I always trailer with my bow and cockpit covers on. Up to 75 mph and never had one snap come lose. My stern of the boat snaps like yours and have not seen them come lose. Is the cover taut enough? Buy a new snap and see if it feels different. Maybe over time they have loosened. |

Mine came unsnapped on the way to the lake and I couldn't see it. 300 miles later the back of the cover looked like a chewed up mess. I need to have mine fixed. |

good point, snaps and screw snaps are cheap... so is the tool that puts them in your cover... try them first before embarking on the retrofit... but i still say there is a reason for the shock cords.. .maybe it has to do with the fact that the cover is being pulled UP on the rear snaps and this makes them come out easier? |

Yes, I think the upward forces make the snap more likely to unsnap, AND I think my 7 year old snaps are just worn. I purchased new snaps, but when tested them before installing they seemed even easier to unsnap. I may try slightly deforming the current snaps to see if that will make them hold tighter. Also have a long flat bungee that I could just strap across the back over that flap of cover to hold it down while snapped. It should nicely hook onto the cleats on both sides. |

I don't know why yours doesn't have them... I thought all FW covers came with those.. ( at least the 2 i have experience with have)... My cover for my 220 doesn't have the snaps in the back it uses bungee loops probably for this particular reason and I trailer with it all the time with no problems |

My cockpit cover has the bungees at the bottom. I know that based on wether the cover is wet or dry it makes a difference on how hard it is to stretch them to get it to attach. I think the bungees are a better choice to allow variations in the cover and still keep it tight. |

My Four Winns dealer stocks the bungees and the plastic barrels that screw to the boat. Perhaps a local canvas shop would have them as well. |
