Post subject:  Nissan Armada or Toyota Sequoia?

Well I've been looking at a used Armada and a Sequoia to replace my Tacoma. Anyone have these? Any problems/Issues with either one? I like the looks of the Armada but have been a pretty loyal Toyota customer for years and all been very happy.

Me and you have almost identical boats and trucks (except yours is Toyota vs my Nissan). I say go for the Armada, with the V-8 and the fact it is built on the Nissan Titan frame, you can easily pull your boat and more. And if there is a boat upgrade in your future (to a Vista for example) you will still have no prob, well, unless you go for a V315 or something, but neither Nissan or Toyota make a 1 Ton dually for that :P ....

The Armada has a 9k towing capacity while the Sequoia has a 6200 lb so getting a bigger boat in the future would limit me a lot with the Sequoia. I'm not not sure about the reliability of the Nissan as I have never owned one before.

I'm relatively new to Nissan myself, but so far I love it. Pulls the boat like a dream, plenty of power and decent mpg to boot. I was so happy with my Fronty, I went out and got the wife an XTerra. Everyone has brand loyalty and opinions, kinda like the ole "Ford vs Chevy" arguement thats been going on forever, but it boils down to what you like. I would def give the Armada a closer look, especially with the 9k towing capacity.

Yeah I agree I definetly want to drive both the Sequoia and the Armada and see what is the best fit for me.

You might already know this??

On the "with the 9k towing capacity." I see the crew cab in your pic. Generally, that 9K number is from there pick-up with a reg. cab. The towing numbers go down when on a crew cab, extended cab and the same with the bed. Thats with the same engine or all thing being equal. Sales people don't understand this & the rear ends as to ratios.

Personally, I like the Ford F-150. I tow my V258 with it and with trailer, fuel, gear and wife. It must hit 8,000lbs and the truck handles it smoothly.

Good luck with it, on what ever you get!

Uhhhh, he was talking about 9K towing capacity for the Nissan Armada, not his Taco crew cab . Pickup truck tow capacity need not even enter into the discussion about the Armada or the Sequoia, since both are SUV's.

As Capn said we are an Armada owner for the past four years. Have not even considered getting anything else to this point. My dad as a Sequoia and the Armada, as a tow vehicle won hands down. Much greater towing capacity and it is the best tow vehicle I have ever owned.

We also like the Armada has a little more "truck" ride and feel. To me the Sequoia feels like driving a mini-van. I also like the looks of the Armada a lot more.

Let me know if you have any specific questions.

Any issues or problems? I heard of brakes and transmission fluid lines going bad?

I know certain year Titans are prone to rear diff problems and parts are hard to come by so the dealer sell a complete rear axle. so if the Armada shares tha same diff could be a problem. dont know if the 2010 and up titans fixed the problem

I am a Toyota man myself and I never see tundra/sequoia's with any issues at all here at the dealer. and if a rear diff goes in a toyota truck its an easy and cheap front loader 'Chuck" like an old ford 9 inch

Another vote for the Armada...had mine 2 years now and never a problem. I also pull a 8,500 lb. RV with it and it handles great!

Armada..doesnt scream soccer mom. Oh yeah the 8750? lb towing cap not bad either..more than I thought. That much capacity it must have better brakes also (I hope). Resale I think the Toy has an advantage. I am a Ford guy, never owned either.
