Jay,

As RedRocketSS mentioned above, Tow Mode just helps the engine not to lug by shifting too early when hauling a load.

I use Tow Mode whenever towing, unless I'm cruising along on flat highways.

Your mileage will suck either way... :(

Erik

Tow haul on my truck increases the rpm between shifting and also downshifts all the way to stop....it is a diesel though......newer models activate the air brake system too.

If i am towing anything of weight I activate tow haul and my H210 is less than half my tow capacity.

I wish I had the diesel I am on the lookout for a newer 2500hd with the diesel in miami. I love the sound of the engine when it's running. I am currently having the same issue once again with my truck. I tried everything like last time but the light just stays lit that flashes Service 4x4 . I am going to buy the new switch tomorrow and disconnect the battery and see if that works.

I am not familiar with GMs system since the only 4x4s I've had are Jeeps (the 98 has the mechanical full time/part time Selectrac, the 07 has the electronic QuadradriveII). I do know that systems that have to be shifted can hang up in 4x4 if you have tires of different sizes or even different inflation pressures. Also shifting while driving straight helps. Anything that puts a bind on the transfer case can make it hang up. Having said that I greatly prefer the Dodge/Jeep manual transfer cases to the electronic ones. They work better and will not let you down because of electronic or actuator issues. The full size trucks that come with basically simple part time 4x4 systems would do better to have a simple lever and linkage than an actuator, electronics and a switch. Sometimes the simple way is better.

Tell me about it! I have a Willy's Jeep 1952 and sure you have to lock the hubs manually but they always work. I have never had a problem with any of my jeeps ever! (KISS) Keep it simple stupid is something these designers for these electronic systems never put much thought into. The 4X4 switch will be at the dealer tomorrow $75 dollars wasn't bad and I needed to change it since it mistakenly slammed into my fist once too many times . Best case scenario would be that I plug the new switch in and it works after I left the battery unplugged for two days. If it doesn't work I guess I will have to take it to the mechanic to have the 4x4 serviced
