Hello every body.

I'm looking for a pair of trim tabs to put on my 1992 195 freedom, does anybody has ever fit some tabs on that model of four winns, as the transom is quiet special ...

I have an outboard 200 ficht Evinrude on it.

What type of tabs should fit ? i was thinking of the QL Trim tabs but the transom is not flat so it won't be adapted.

Welcome to the board.

I would not think you would need trim tabs on that boat with that power. Assuming is has trim on the motor, the size of the boat, it should jump on plane pretty quick and trim from there.

Hi jvthundercat,

it's not a problem of planning, i jump on plane in seconds i have also an SE300 installed on the prop, it's more for having a correct levelling of the boat when charged.

once i'm planning i always have to get my trim full down when water is not totally flat, if not i have "bouncing" problems with it, i have 2 80 liters fuel tanks at the back + the weight of the 200 + 4 people on the backseat ... the trim itself is not enough to level the boat, and i also noticed that it tends to sink on the left side even when the weight is well distirbuted.

for all that reason i'm looking for some trim tabs and advices as unfortunately my transom is atypical.

My stingray has that exact problem. I ordered some smart tabs. That fixes it and they're only $100. They install with basic tools in 15 min.

I see what you mean and something to look at by ric.
I had a problem with the Bayliner listing to the side like that. I ended up putting a No Feed Back steering on it at most of these boats come with standard rack in them. The motor or outdrive pushes forward in the direction it is set, and with a little play it will make the boat tilt to one side and it was usually the left. I suppose counter torque. The play is in the rack under the steering wheel and even new not so great. Plus you have the benefit of when you let go of the wheel, it stays right where you left it unlike standard steering.

Trim tabs will help the listing problem, but as I have experienced on our Fiber Form, it make the boat drag on plane to one side you are correcting and you are fighting the wheel slightly all the time to go straight. It is handy to use the trim tabs to level the boat side to side, but always a penelty that goes with it.

If it is just a trim problem it can help bring the nose down, just don't over do it or you will find out how much your hull grabs. lol
I would also look at your motor since it's an outboard type and see where it is set on the mount frame. Most adjust up or down.

what do you mean by "the play is in the rack under the steering wheel" what rack ? if it's in relation with the direction i have changed it by a seastar hydraulic direction.

Ok, well that explains a lot. But it makes the answers more difficult. I would still say you have play in the steering according to what you say it is doing. Now you have to find either the air in the system, or one of the valves that is leaking a little. Here is a start.
