Any one know what manufacturer provided the distributor for the 1988 Four Winns 241 7.5 (460) OMC engine?

Most likely a Prestolite.

Thanks guys for responding...I had a feeling it might be a Prestolite. When no one immediately responded to my question I took a chance on using their remedy for the ESA hard shift situation. Whoever owned this boat before had the problem but didn't know how to cure it. I at first changed the ESA itself with no change, and then came across the Prestolite fix. Luckily enough it worked!

Can you explain the ESA Prestolite fix"? I have some shifting issues and am interested in looking into this as a possile fix.
