| Post subject: | Dry start issues - 1990 four Winns liberator |
I have been having some dry start issues with my 1990 four Winns liberator 201 w/ mercruiser. I've had to sprinkle some gas into the carbs to get it fired . Once it is fired it runs fine. Any suggestions with what the issue could be. Thanks for your help, Derek B. |

What engine/ carb setup do you have? Does your Accelerator Pump work? Is your ignition timing ok? |

It's a5.0 litre with a 2 barrel carb set up. As for accelerator pump and ignition time I'm not too sure, I am not that knowledgable on boat engines. Would you be able to tell me how to check these? Thank you very much for your help. |

To check Accelerator Pump on a cold engine, remove the spark arrestor and have a friend pump the throttle while you're looking in to the carb's throat. You should see a nozzle squirt 2 fuel jets in to the barrels. You'll need a timing light to check correct timing. |
