I recently bought a 1993 180 Freedom. I have it stored at this time, but in the Spring I'm going to tow it home. I have a Rav4 (V6) and I'm wondering if I will need extended mirrors to tow it?

I've never used them with either one of our tow vehicles (98 Jeep Grand Cherokee and 07 Jeep Grand Cherokee). The main thing you want to make sure of is that the trailer itself is in good shape, that means the brakes must work right (esp with a smaller tow vehicle) the tires must be in good shape and the bearings and springs need to be checked as well. When I first got our 88 Horizon 200 the trailer did not have brakes and stopping it with our old 98 Jeep was difficult to say the least. The next season I put on a set of surge drum brakes and that made a big difference. Our 07 Jeep has much better brakes than the 98 but still you want the brakes on the trailer to work well because that takes wear and tear off the tow vehicle brakes...

You should be fine w/o extended tow mirrors. I tow my FW 205 Sundowner w/ the stock Tacoma mirrors and can see fine. Yeah it would be nice to have a little bit bigger mirrors at times but its not really all that worth it to me.

Thanks alot for your thoughts. I'll try it without the extensions.
Fortunately, the trailer & boat are in showroom condition. I'm not concerned about the strength/ability of the trailer to carry the boat, as the trailer is in perfect condition. My only concern is that I haven't ever towed a boat trailer. I don't want to look like the rookie the first time I put in the lake. Part of the learning curve I suppose.
