It looks to be a 285 Express/Vista from 1991-1993.

Four Winns has all their older catalogs available online:

Wow. Thanks so much. That is very helpful.

Is this a good boat? I don't know much about Four Winns except that I have heard they are good. Are there any bad models that I should avoid? All thoughts and opinions are welcome.

Thanks again...

Bill

Any boat that age should be judged primarily on condition and then brand.

Four Winns does make a good solid boat. However, if a previous owner neglected it, it won't be any better than any other boat that was neglected.

I'm not personally familiar with that particular model. You may have better luck looking in the "Vista" sub forum.

Better get a pro to look at it for you, in older boats, wood rot in the framing (stringers, transom, decks) is a problem and not easy for someone not familiar with fiberglass construction to see. Also, if it has OMC power be careful. Some of the OMC drives are hard to get parts for. There was a recent thread on this.....

It turned out to be a '92 and it's got mercruisers. I'm getting it surveyed this week. Its a little more money than I wanted to spend on a boat but it's nice and clean looking with a floor plan my wife and I really like. Here's to hoping all goes well with the survey...

Cheers!

In 1992 Four Winns was owned by OMC and they only offered OMC drives on the boats.

If this boat actually has Mercruiser drives it has been repowered. That is not a bad thing, I just think you should be aware of it.
