Thought I'd post up some pics of my U-17. Don't see too many of them around but there are some. They only made the U-17 in 1996 and 1997. Mine is a '96. The '97 model design changed a bit and went to Chevy power instead of Ford. The boat has a 5.0 mated to a Volvo Penta SX with a 23 pitch prop. The best I've seen is 62 MPH on GPS. It's a really fun little boat. Here are a few pics:

Surprised to see trim tabs on that size boat. Must be a heck of a ride at those speeds. |

If you are at low speed, below plane, it has a tendency to want to list to port from the prop torque. I have found that if I put them down just a little above 60, they smooth out the chine walk as well. It definitely feels faster than 60. You are right on the water. |
