I'm also intetersted in a bow scuff plate. Our bow stop roller looks gouged and I figure with time it'll make a rub mark. Also, anyone have experience with the keelguard, like shown in the photo with the aftermarket scuff plate?

Went to look at the keelguard at the link I posted above and saw that the bow scuff plate is on sale for under $13 with free shipping. I went to order one and found I had some rewards credits from previous purchases (who knew?), so it's on it's way at a total cost of less than $10. 8) I'll follow up here after I get it.

Damn Wholesale Marine is fast - ordered yesterday, got it today. 8)

Looks to be relatively cheap 22 guage 304 SS. Has horizontal grain, rather than a mirror finish, and does a great job of picking up and displaying fingerprints which won't wipe off. It measures 5.75" w by 4.5" h - small! As seen below, there's a .75" wide notch in the center to allow for an install around the bow eye, I don't believe that Wholesale marine carries the solid version without the notch. To install, one bends the plate to match the hull, and peels the backing of the 3M strip adhesive on the back of the scuff plate, (the entire back of the plate is covered except a 1/8" perimeter) and presses it in place. There's warnings about cleaning the area appropriately first. My boat's still in storage, but this scuff plate appears to be too small to provide complete protection. With the $9 and change I paid, I can't complain, but I doubt that I'm going to install this on the boat - it'd probably be fine for a smaller boat, too bad they don't make a bigger mirror finish version.

That's too bad. It might work OK, though, as long as you put it in exactly the right place. The size of the area contacted by the roller is very small, the challenge is in knowing just where that is. Once you have the boat out of storage, you might consider trying it.

I've noticed that the factory scuff plates on Cobalts are much smaller than the factory FW plates.

I may still look at this yet. Would rather have the FW plate but apparently it's not available for the 180...

Rubbing alcohol will take the fingerprints off.

I found the notch free one on ebay for $13. I'm going to install it because I have a small area (3x3) where the finishing tape has been rubbed off from my roller. I know exactly where it hits it because its just making the area worse. This might be a nice fix to go along with my existing ss scuff plate. I'll post before and after pics.

Here you go. Bought it off ebay yesterday and it arrived today.

Before. Pretty bad, huh? I realize my roller needs replaced and that's mostly to blame.

After.

I put clear sealent around the edges to hopefully make the adhesion last longer. I think it looks ok. Not great but better. Thoughts?

Just realized I never posted up the pics I promised over 3 years ago. Does that make me an Indian Poster? I'll try to get this done in the next few months.

When I purchased our Four Winns last year, it did not have a scuff plate, but the dealership agreed to order and install one for me. I have the scuff plate now, but it won't be installed until I de-winterize this spring. The FW factory plate is much more substantial than the pictures posted earlier in this thread. In fact, the FW plate has the bow eye welded and integrated and covers a much larger area on the point of the keel. When installed, it will replace the the current bow eye on the boat. Pretty sure that you could find pictures of these scuff plates on the FW website boats. Don't know the price as it was "thrown in" with the deal, but I am guessing around $100.

Hi, Overtons.com carry hell of a lot, they have various scuff plates and keel guards. Has anyone used hydrofoil stabilizers, are they any good, what are the benefits really?
