I just recently picked up a boat in under the aft cabin storage. There is gelcoat over Wood, I'm guessing the wood is 1/2 thick. It just separate for different storage areas. The gelcoat has cracks in it and the wood is soft I have cleaned up everything and drying it out. I was going to drill out and put epoxy in the wood. What would you think the next move would be to a break up all the loose and broke gelcoat, Or do I put a thin piece of wood over the top and glue it on and use stainless steel screws. Then gelcoat all new |

You might be best to post a photo of what you are dealing with. |

I don't know why I can't seem to post pictures. This is just supports the aft cabin bed. The gelcoat is just cracked in the middle and where the air-conditioner strainer was attached to the wall. So I'm trying to figure out what would be the solution. I didn't know if it made more sense to just put a new board over-the-top I'm going to dry it out good then seal new board on 1/4 thick ? |
