I cleaned up our original cockpit carpet yesterday and it is not looking great. It is stained beyond cleaning and the backing is turning to powder. I figure it may be time to start looking at replacement options. I really like the teak looking carpet.

Any recomendations on where to purchase? Those that have the teak-look carpet, how is it holding up?

http://www.snapincarpets.com is one source. It is possible that they already have templates for your model.

Ditto...just do it! We did it a few years back and it felt like we were in a new boat. Good stuff and much better that the carpet that came with the boat. We did not install snaps in ours and I'm still happy with that.

I sent them an email this morning. Did you have to make a pattern for your 278 Flyer51?

As I recall I traced the old carpet onto a paper pattern.

Thanks. It sounds like Snapincarpets is the way to go.
I'm going to throw the old carpets in since they are cleaned up already. We will see if they last the season though. If I get tired of vacuuming up the black dust from the backing I'll put my order in.

To fix the backing, take a can of the rubberized coating (flex seal is one brand). You can buy a can at Wal-Mart. Spray a heavy coat onto the backing - just brush off the loose and don't worry about cleaning.
This will create a new rubber backing and seal in the old that is coming off.
I did mine last fall and has worked great.

I used Elastomeric coating on the back of my H240's carpet. Carpet was in great shape, just the typical black backing wearing off. It'll get me a few years before I have to replace.

Since i asked them in may, they changed it to 2000-2005... getting a quote on the teak carpet, or Duraweave. I have been contemplating sea dek, but i am worried how it will hold up, or how hot it gets.... any thoughts on that

Everyone I've talked to with SeaDek said it gets pretty hot when in the sun. I was going to get it for my swim platform but decided against it for that reason.

For my carpet I got some of the flex seal stuff but the Rustoleum brand. It was way cheaper than the "as seen on TV" stuff. Took about three cans to cover the back of all three pieces and it held up great this summer. I think I'm going to see if I can get another season out of it now.

I haven't found a person that has sea dek to say it doesn't get hot.... my neighbor, actually 2 of them bought boats in September with sea dek, so nothing to go on yet for heat. One already has a tear about 3/8"-1/2" long on the platform.... when he asked to look in my boat earlier in the summer, I asked him to remove his shoes. He gave me a puzzled look and said "they have white soles". I explained that's the rules on my boat....
I guess his white sole shoes picked up a rock and cut his new sea dek

My carpet back is coming off, but it just look old, a few stains I guess, don't know really. I think it's time to freshen them up. I only used them a couple times this summer.... I think mainly because the black rubbing off on the non skid dek.... I will pull them out and look at them again. Thank you for the info...

Should of listend to Flyer51 back in May. Pulled the trigger on the carpet today with snapincarpet. Also added 2 of the four winns mats for at the dock. Should be shipped this week,

More is lost from indecision than wrong decision...

Carpet/mats showed up today, I think they turned out great. Thinking I should of sent my cabin rugs in and had them match the desert sand.... I know it doesn't need to match, any thoughts either way? I hate the "almost white" cabin mats
