Post subject:  Pad Help...

So what did I do wrong. I have a few of these Lake County pads for my Porter Cable.

I cleaned them and then stored in individual Zip-Loc bags. I take them out this evening and they are all cracking. Still soft, but cracking. I must not have cleaned them properly. How do you guys clean and store these pads? Appreciate the help.

fire...I just cleaned them in the sink once and in the washing machine another time. I will never do the washing machine again. It left a thin film of wax all over it. Not fun to clean. I bought some Snappy Clean this time. I think I must have put them in a bags a little damp. Plus, being outside in the freezing temps and the dampness in the bags killed them. The new ones I just bought will be stored indoors and left out to dry for a few days.

I don't use that brand of pad, but all I do is hand wash them out with warm water and Dawn, squeezing out as much of the wax as I can, then let them air dry. I don't put them inside of anything else to store them.

The Snappy clean worked well for me. One packet in a 5 gal bucket and I let them soak for a couple hours. . I just scrubbed them a bit, then put them back on the buffer and shook out the excess liquid. Dried them wire shelf pad side down and they are good as new.
I think the recommendation to store them in plastic bags was if you were going to take a break.

Ruff...after soaking them in the Snappy Clean. What do you use to scrub them with. The new pads will be here today. At least I will get my car and truck done this weekend I hope.

I spray mine liberally with simple green immediately when I'm done with them at the end of the job wash them in the laundry tub with hot water and more GG as needed. Agitate like scrubing out a spot on a piece of material. Air dry and store in a storage container when dry.

Doggg,
Sorry for the delay in response. I gently use the blunt end of a paint brush. The Snappy clean does a good enough job on its own
