Typically my windows are in poor shape. The lakes in the area have very hard water, which after it bakes in the sun for the day is close to a permanent marking in the glass. Using regular glass cleaner like I use on cars (foam spray) doesn't even touch it.

I've seen some recommendations to use Barkeepers Friend to clean windows with, so I gave it a try today and my windows are now crystal clear and fully transparent. No elbow grease required with this stuff, rub the past in, wipe off with a damp cloth, and dry.

The stuff says it can be used on fiberglass, but I wasn't adventurous enough to do the entire hull. Besides, the first time I put it in the water it'll be all spotted up anyway.

Where do you get that stuff? I've heard enough glowing reviews that I'd like to get some just to have on hand.

Barkeepers Friend is good stuff on glass, never tried on fiberglass though.

You can find it at most restaurant supply places such as Cash & Carry, Smart & Final, Associated Grocers, etc.

You can also try Walmart..that's where I get mine. It's in the cleaning isle.

We have Barkeeper's Friend at the house all the time. We have stainless steel cookware, so we use it on these to keep them polished. I have also used it on glas (on the cars and the boat) and, yes, it works well to remove the water spotting and other grime that doesn't come off with regular glass cleaner (like the rubber residue from the wipers).

You can get it at Walmart or most grocery stores. Typically with the kitchen cleansers, such as Comet, etc.

- that's where my wife said it would be, we happend to have some in the cleaning supplies, so I thought I'd give it a try.

It said on the label it's for a long list of cleaning tasks, fiberglass was in the list. I also cleaned my bimini supports and hardware with it and those look like new. I tried on a small area of fiberglass and the spots that my Meguiars Cleaner Wax could not get out were gone. However, that's a lot more fiberglass than I had time :shock: . Especially since the first time out next year it would spot up all over again.

You guys with glass windshields should be fine, but mine is that plexiglass stuff I think. I'd be worried about using it on that. I'd be affraid it would scratch/dull it. I know it works wonders on our white sink in the kitchen.

Yeah those are my last 2 options unless I order it online. I've checked Walmart, KMart, Blowes, and Home Despot. A couple of them have the powder but no liquid.

You want the powder.

You'll need 3 rags. 2 damp, 1 dry. Use one of the damp rags to dump a little powder in and work it into the rag until it appears like a paste, then rub the paste on the window. Next, use the other damp rag to rinse off the window and then dry the window with the remaining dry rag.

Has anyone tried the liquid to see if it works as well as powder? For some reason I'm very hesitant to apply powder.

(Yeah, I just found the liquid and bought it :? )
