We typically take our boat out of the water after each use (or at least after the weekend). We always wipe it down and clean it on the trailer before putting it away in the garage. I typically spray the boat with Meguiars Quik Clean Marine or similiar product as I wipe it down. I also found a great product for cars called Ice made by Turtle Wax. I am curious what others recommend--particularly products that won't remove all the wax. Our new boat is the full black color band--so cleaning will be essential since everything will show. Any suggestions? Thanks!

I've used the quick clean. Worked pretty good. Still had issues with hard water stains. (Black color band too)

Someone suggested somewhere the boat bling "Hot Sauce" and that stuff is fantastic. I swear I only washed the boat 2 times last summer, the rest of the time was q quick wipe and she looks like new!

Thanks for the input. Anyone familiar with the "Ice" product that I mentioned. It leaves an incredible shine, but I'm wondering if I am helping or hindering the wax? I don't want to strip it all off.

I use a 50/50 solution of white vinegar and water. Haven't found it strips wax and it does well on hard water stains. A lot cheaper, too!

I'll have to try that. The price sure sounds right. I just found some info on Turtle Wax Ice Detailer on the web and it says it contains carnauba. I have read here on some of the wax posts that carnauba can yellow gel coat over time. Not sure if that is true or not--but I don't really want to take chances, so now I really will be trying some new things.

I use ice as wel,l cleans the heck out of water spots and stuff works well and doesn't take the wax off.

Thanks all for the responses. I have been using the Ultimate Detailer product that Cap'n posted and it seems to work about the same as the Ice, so I will probably stick with that for awhile.

That's all I use during the summer (boat in a slip). Cheep, effective, environmentally friendly and works on everything (windows, rubber, upholstery, hull).

The regular Turtle Wax Ice works great on cars. I use it on my vehicles, and it works better when appllied in direct sunlight. The hotter, the better! It can also be used on rubber, decals, and plastic trim, so I'd imagine it would be perfectly safe for gel coat. I'm not sure it would remove wax, but it isn't designed to go over wax or strip it, so I don't know.

I've used 303 protectant on my fiberglass boats in the past, and it works extremely well. I never waxed them, but just used 303. After applying, you wipe it off with one stroke, with a damp towel, then go back over with a dry towel. The gel coat then becomes amazingly slick, and beads water as well or better than any wax.

To be honest, it goes on just like ICE.

Anyone heard the urban legend of Pledge? Never tried it myself, read it on another forum. New boat owner here, don't want to make any mistakes, but also a tightwad. Thanks, Dennis

The 50/50 mixture, is that for all cleaning needs or is it used along with a soap or other product.
