Does anybody use a pressure washer to clean their boat? I wonder if I can use my 1500 psi washer... And if yes, which spots are safe and to avoid.

Also, there are three or four really annoying mildew stains that we can't get rid off. We used the West Marine mildew remover, but that doesn't help at all. Can anybody recommend something a little bit stronger and more efficient before the woman will board with a bottle of Chlorine?

As always - Thanks!!

On seats? Try a magic erasure, but go easy with it.

I believe my pressure washer is 2500 psi. I use it mostly on the non-skid surfaces. Cleans them better than any thing else I've tried. Just be careful around any hull tape. I need to buy some replacement stripes.

I was thinking about using it on the non skid. I'll give it a go.

Also thanks for the tip om magic erasure.

In another life I worked at a marina for 2 summers. All we used was pressure washers with muratic acid and then some straight bleach for tough stains. As others have mentioned, make sure not to get the tip too close to any graphics or tape you may have on the hull. The acid is available in smaller quantities for home use, I think it's called "On & Off". If you use it, be sure to wear rubber gloves and use caution that it does not get on the trailer. On the inside, you can always try a little diluted bleach in a spray bottle, just make sure the carpet is out although I did this on my old boat that did not have removable carpet and it didn't hurt a thing.

just read (ok, kinda just looked at the pics) an article about mold and mildew. Can't remember where though (old age. just turned 50 a few days ago). It said not to use bleach but to use an enzyme cleaner. Bleach dosn't kill the spores right away and they can go airborn. An enzyme cleaner kills the spores on contact.
