Putting the boat away for the winter yesterday and noticed that one of the posts on the transom that holds rear portion (elastic bands) of snap-on cover had wiggled loose. Tried to tighten with screwdriver and found the the screw had stripped the fiberglass and pulled completely out. How can I attached this post (or a screw in snap) back to the fibergalss? Pretty sure that a larger screw won't work; so I am thinking that there must be some sort of glue to coat the threads of the screw with (i.e. gorilla glue).

Assume that this is a common problem, but couldn't find any other threads that address the snaps for the cockpit/bow covers.

Suggest maybe a screw with a nyloc nut on the back of it...

Fill the hole with West System Epoxy. Drill a pilot hole when completely dry, then get a screw in snap and install it.

Thanks for the suggestion. Should I drill the new hole in exact location as the fill-in or should I offset a little bit? Since it is the elastic band for the cover, I could move the screw slightly. If this epoxy is good enough, I would prefer to use the same location so-as to not create unsightly fill marks on the transom.

I had the same problem
I bought a white epoxy paste, waterproof.
PC Products
PC-11 has a "B" also marked on the side.
http://www.pcepoxy.com thats whats on the container.
Its a two part epoxy marine type.
Mixed up a small portion of both parts.
Filled the hole, make sure it does not flow out if the hole is drilled thru.
Put a good helping on the screw.
Insert screw into hole, press until it bottoms out.
Wipe of excess.
Good to go in a day or two max.
