Anyone put subs in a 278 Vista? Mine is a 94 model. Wanting to put a 15" or 2 12" in it. Looking for ideas. Pics would be great, too.

Whats the rest of your stereo system consist of? A single 15 or 2 12's is going be a lot of bass. So unless you are a "bass-head", you dont want the sub(s) to outpace the mids and highs. Are your cabin and deck divided into zones with dedicated volume controls? If so, I would consider a sub for each area, depending on the rest of your system and where you plan to spend the most time listening.

Without being in your boat, I cant help much with a specific location to place the sub or subs, but maybe I can offer some ideas that may help you choose a location that will allow you to get the most out of a sub.

I would make every attempt to avoid placing the sub in an enclosed storage locker or under a seat. The dense fiber glass and cushion material will rob so much of a subs output and musicality. Its almost like cutting the power in half. So look for a place that would allow the sub to radiate out into the listening area.

A sub in an enclosure will always trump an infinite-baffle sub, but an infinite-baffle sub can be better then a poorly executed enclosure. The available space for an enclosure will dictate the enclosure dimensions and the enclosure volume will dictate the sub.

Hope this helps a little

A single 15" in a correctly tuned ported box will send ripples off your boat.
Be prepared to spend as much money on Dynamat, as your thin fibreglass panels will resonate like hell!
You may find a medium powered (600Wrms) 12" sealed sub in the cockpit area to be more 'musical', but it really depends on what you want?! 8)
