Ric at time takes out of his..... The Polk 4000.2 only uses 2 30amp fuses. One for each leg but still totals 30 amps of protection. That Is 360watts!! Now this is in D.C. Plus the biggest wire that amp will take is 4 awg wire and at 130amps with Ric's numbers you almost have a toster. More so the longer the wire! Music is A.C. voltage thus you have amplitude and wavelength. I don't know the voltage but without that, you can not come up with a "amp" number. Now Ric used a number of 220W at 18 amps. To come up with that he used 12 or 13 volts. That would mean, if the speaker was 10 feet from the amp, 20 feet of wire (back & forth) you would need 10awg wire. Also, the greater the distance the heaver the wire. So if I used 20 (back and froth 40ft.)feet wire to go from my head unit to the bow after snaking it all the way. I would need 8 to 6 awg wire. REALLY? Most speaker wires are 16 to 14awg wire that come with most speakers. |

run 12 ga wire and be done. Supplied speaker wire is ALWAYS crap.. go on MonoPrice.com and order some decent wire and be done.. |
