No sound from any speaker. Display on head unit looks good, tuner, BT, Pandora, Aux....all display as normal, but no sound. Now here is the odd part, if I disconnect any left side speaker, the head unit goes into Protect mode, and I have to pull power from it, reconnect speakers, and depress the reset button behind faceplate. If I disconnect the right side, everything stays normal on the display of the head unit (except for still no sound).

Trouble shooting in the manual says if in Protect mode, check the insulation of speaker connections. I did, they all look good. I even disconnected ALL the speakers from the Kenwood harness. Nothing, except Protect mode. Any ideas?

I'm hoping it ain't the head unit itself.

The unit goes into protect mode when it gets wet (trust me I've done it a few times, leak under windshield when I clean the dash).

I reset mine (undo from power for 30 minutes) and usually solves it after it dries.

If you had a Fusion and it and got it wet, that would never happen since there sealed.

When their 2014 models come out that have bluetooth I might rethink that idea, it's by far the most important feature to me. Also wired remotes for kenwood are $40.

Bad news, that Kenwood was fried  . We had a monsoon rain here last week and my cover decided to leak right above the dash area. Needless to say, a small waterfall ended up soaking the stereo. Switched it up and replaced it with an Alpine...so far so good. Sound is as good as the Kenwood.

Oh, and I got a new cover to protect this stereo a bit better...been an expensive weekend....
