My 288 has the stock Clarion wired remote at the helm.
I'm going to replace with the Fusion unit.
My question is about cable runs.

Is it an easy and obvious path from the back of the helm to the instrument panel where the head unit is?

I just replaced my clarion unit with a kenwood if you remove the panel that has the remote and gps ect. you can see the cable running down into the cabin I removed the a/c main panel in the cabin to access the area from inside its easy just make sure your batteries are off and shore power is disconected

Have you already bought the Fusion head unit?
If not, look at most of the other brands (Clarion make great marine HU's!), as Fusion is an average SQ brand...
Just my 2 cents worth...

You will love the 600. If you put a remote on the swimming platform and use the NMEA2k connection on the back of the head unit and fishfinder The remote can display depth, and more... Plus the remotes connect from remote to remote. No home runs back.
