My 278 Vista has the original Clarion system to include Amp and Subwoofer located under the drivers seat platform.
The sub literally blew apart this past weekend. I never play loud (I am into quality not quantity). I guess it was just dry rotted and the first note the cone just fell apart.

I would like to replace with something decent but not too expensive and something that will fit into the existing 9" cutout and 9.5" (quantity of eight) screw holes.
I am looking at the Pyle PLMRW10. Can purchase for about $40.00 which I know is cheap but again, I am not looking for a lot of volume. Just decent quality while parked.

Anyone else replaced the Clarion CMSW10.1 sub? If so, what did you use?

Thanks,

Safe to assume this is an IB (infinite-baffle/free-air) application? If so, you will get the best results from a woofer thats designed for that application. Leading the way is the JL 10IB. Best sound quality. Next would be the Wet Sounds 10FA, more power handling, but leans a bit toward the SPL side rather then SQ. Next, I would have to say the Alpine SWRM100. beyond that, you asking a woofer to operate out of its comfort zone. Although not a true IB woofer, I am very pleased with the performance of the Kicker KM10.

Went with the Pyle sub for the price. Sounds good. Had to widen hole by 1/8 inch. Drill new mounting holes.
Did find that the original amp was setup wrong. Had to change almost every setting to get sound to speakers and sub doing what it is supposed to.
Of course then found that the main speakers in the cockpit are busted as well.
They are cm 1635. Of course not available. I will have to find a substitute. Hopefully won't have to widen holes for the new speakers.

Any suggestions on inexpensive substitute?

I found Pyle PLMR6K on Amazon for 42.99.
They include new woofer and tweeter to replace existing setup. Of course I will have to widen hole.
What a pain. Slings dust everywhere cutting with the dremil.
Will have to figure out a way to close off back to keep dust out of engine compartment.

The Pyle speakers fit the existing hole. Not sure if Four Winns just cut the original hole a little too big or what.
Works great. Sounds great.
Highly recommend if you need to replace original Clarion speakers and don't want to spend a lot.
