Stopped by the boat yesterday to check on things -- it's been a couple weeks since we had last been out. Opened things up and went down into the cabin. Everything nice and dry and warm - GREAT!

Checked the systems, everything is good.

Go to turn on the football game and get a store update... game comes on... 30 seconds later, TV goes off. No red light/no blue light.

I unplug the molex connector and check fuses on the panel - everything is good.

I plug in the molex connector and hear the 'click' like power is getting to it. The red standby light comes on for 2 seconds, then fades away with another 'click.

I plug in the cockpit TV to the power source and everything works great...

So - what's up? The DC fuse on the tv appears ok...

TV go bad?

That'd be my guess. Does it have an external DC converter that could have gone bad?

Here's my question, what are you doing not going on your slipped boat for weeks!?! There is NO excuse for that

I have an older Sony TV that had similar issues. It would be on and working fine until someone got up and walked by it and it would shut off. It turned out the power relay was bad and the slightest movement of the TV (our appartment was on the second floor and the floor had a slight bounce to it) would cause the relay to flip and the TV would loose power. I took the TV apart and found the relay by turning it on and then shaking the circuit board while listening for the relay to click. I replaced the relay and it's been working fine for 5 years.

Screw trying to fix it. When is the warranty up as I know you just purchased your boat not too long ago (or have you had that beauty more than a year now)? Just think bailout.

I deserve a little flack... the wife has been traveling for business an insane amount. The weather has not been cooperative outside of work hours... excuses excuses. :D

I had hoped to take the boat out for a quick spin when I was out, but it was raining something fierce. Since it berths in a nice, covered slip - I just didn't want to her to get all wet.

I'll do better next time. :D

Yes, we're still well within warranty - I just hope to avoid the hassle if it's something simple.

Did they stick with jensen for 2010? maybe i can get a new brand?

Since its in warranty, I would say just have them fix it.

When you are out of warranty...if/when it goes bad...get out of Jensen. They have NEVER been known to make a great product and it blows me away that they are even used in boats at all. Boats are luxury items, especially when you get into cruisers. Why would a boat mfr use such crap products on high end merchandise?

Its like buying a $350k Rolls Royce and then getting "simulated" wood interior...just doesnt make sense to me.

Good luck Courgar!

Yep, they are junk. CC, you might want to shop around for something different, and /or see if your TV can be replaced with something decent. Here is a good source for 12V TV's.

Note what they mention on the site:
Quote:
Please Note** We have Discontinued Jensen & Audiovox 12Volt TV's for Reliability Issues
