I have a 2004 378 with the standard clarion radio setup with the M301 RC remote. Has any one replaced the remote at the swim platform.

I just did this on a 2004 FourWinns 328 Vista.

I have a few tips to provide...

1. I had a XMD3 radio and the oval Clarion Remotes.
2. I upgraded to a CMD6 radio and the round MW1 remotes...
3. I found out after purchase that for 2011, Clarion has a MW3 (pretty rare to find) but it is smaller and fits in the older oval holes.

4. Install the remote on the rear required removing the stern wash down box - then it was easy...

5. IMPORTANT! These remotes had no instructions even new out the box so... I wired mine just like the others were wired.
Positive to positive and negative to one of the support bolts.
Wrong answer.... Only ONE remote needs power and neither need the negative. Almost smoked my entire setup and nav lights.

When all is said and done, more was said than done...

From what I've read you can re-use existing remotes with anything between the XMD1 and CMD5 head units. Once you upgrade to the CMD6 it requires all new remotes.

+1 I replaced my CMD4a with a CMD5 and was able to use same remotes, and sirius sat radio receiver.

My boat was originally equipped with the Clarion XMD3 and a Clarion oval remote. I understand that if I install a CMD6 I will have to replace the oval remote but will the original cable from the head unit to the remote will still work for the CMD6 and a MW1/MW2/MW3 or do I need to replace that also?
