I am currently considering purchasing four Polk dbs that you all have praised so highly of for my 2000 horizon 180 ls. My question is, I'm going to also be purchasing a new deck with 4x50 watt channels I believe, is this going to still sound ok? I know adding an amp would help, but is the deck speaker combination going to worth doing without the amp? Also will I need the thin speakers for the rear replacements? And finally, am I ok to use the existing speaker wire or should I replace that as well? Sorry for all the questions, any input is appreciated.

Yes, they will sound a ton better even without an amp. Not only will they sound great, they look really nice once installed. You will be very happy with them.

The MM series sounds better then the DB series, not much more expensive.

If you don't have rear and installing, use the 3 way 6x9s. Most/all round speakers are 2 way

I currently have rear speakers, but am away from my boat. I am just wondering if i need to go with the slims or the standard size will be fine for depth clearances. Ive checked out the mm series you spoke of, the look nice, worth the extra money compared to the db series though?

The MM are a step above the DB series. A better speaker all around. Worth the extra money yes, so much so I'm buying MM's to replace my 6 month old DB's.

^^ I'd pick up your "lightly used DB651's" if the price was right. PM me when you are ready to sell
