I like those brackets BUT i do not like the added stress on the wind frame.. also it drastically narrows the bimini by 6-8" on my boat.. One of the main reasons i went with the side mounts on the hull allowing me to have an over sized FULL BEAM bimini made for the boat.. it folds forward and rests at the front base of the windshield under the cover..

Those ball bracket joints that you chose are a great choice for your existing bimini and if i had a factory bimini i would have gone this route also. Good Choice..

I have been researching marine upholstery material and processed for certain tips and tricks for upholstery work. I have about made the list for what all i need.. Now i am going to spend the last 30min of the day laying out the patern.. well i may go simple i may go a bit more modern pattern to UPDATE the boat with the fresh interior. And as i am not going for a "factory restoration" i can do what ever i feel.

Thanks guys, its amazing how some updating and "jazzin" things up with the ole stainless shine can make an almost 20 year old boat look new.

Well, what I didn't do today was fix my ignition. I need to find out what's wrong with my boat as I'm not getting 12v power to the coil. Either bad ignition switch or hall sensor in dizzy. Quite honestly I'm in no rush, I've been on my boat every weekend for the last 3 months. It's nice to do other things.

Maybe I'll go fix the boat today, maybe not. It's back at my house so it's not exactly a far drive lol. I'm just not feeling very motivated. There's so many other things I want to do before summer is over I'll be pissed if I waste the last month summer in 2014 (August) sitting on my boat. Not having it running doesn't give me the option of being lazy and just using that instead of other things.

In other news... Shake Shack just opened 5miles away in Winter Park. WOOHOO!!!

hunting and pricing out materials for the winter upholstery project..

RIC- I plan to be not he boat this weekend.. Hell you are FL summer lasts till mid october.. we go int he boat all thru football season. The air water combo is not bad until middle november.. Last year it did not dip below 70 until october.. September Is our hottest month.. I have in no way shape or form started to think of the "end of summer"

Decided to check my boat out to see why it won't start.

The tech manual flow chart tells me it's the ignition sensor (hall sensor) in the distributor. I totally forgot to disconnect the gray wire from the coil that goes to the tach in the off chance it's a bad tach or grounded wire, so I'm waking up a few minutes early tomorrow to disconnect it and see if she fires up.

So it's narrowed down to 3 things right now. Bad hall sensor ($70). Grounding out tach lead ($free just gotta find the break). Bad tach ($180 for a matching unit).

If it's the sensor one of the local 20 Mercury dealers should have the sensor and my boat will be back running on the river this weekend. If it's the tach/tach wire my boat will be back running on the river this weekend because I'll just disconnect it and fix the wire/replace the tach on my spare time. 30mph is 3000rpms that all I need to know until i fix it.

Woke up a tad early and finished my diagnosis.

It is in fact, a bad ignition sensor. My neighborhood boat shop has one waiting for me at the front desk for when I get out of work :)

Nope, more driveway work. It was the first time I've ever ran it on a trailer since I bought the boat, and it had a slight misfire that you could feel (but not hear) since it was solidly connected to the trailer. It was a perfect rhythm. I decided to check the firing order of the spark plug wires, cause well, the previous owner f***ed everything else up wiring related.

I have no idea what the **** firing order it was set to, but it wasn't GM. So I pulled all the wires off the dist cap and followed the clearly labeled numbers on the cap and manifold. Starts up but sounds horribly retarded and the idle was like 400rpm. I'll have to pull out the timing light tomorrow and reset it. I guess that explains my lack of top end power.

****

As far as the original ignition sensor was concerned, two solder points on the circuit board had created a corrosion bridge shorting out the connection. I cleaned it up and I'll bet money it works. I'll keep it as a spare.
