I am not against anyone having fun. But being stupid - that's another matter. Going out in your boat isn't stupid. Going hiking isn't stupid. Riding a motorcycle... Well - not stupid, but there are a lot of stupid people who own motorcycles. There is a reason they are called "Murdercycles" or "Donorcycles" or "Splatmagnets."
One man's fun is another man's stupid. You think boating isn't stupid, but plenty of people think it is, because they don't "get" it. Same thing with lots of other activities ranging from free climbing to eating hamburgers.

However - driving drunk, smoking, hiking when you are 68, 378 pounds, and have a medical history longer than my arm... That's stupid.
Yep. But but only the driving drunk should be against the law.

Nice dream, I guess. Personally, I'd have a long, long list to go down before getting to the Coast Guard, including things like wars, bailouts, subsidies, a large selection of what passes for "research" and "art", ad nausem.

A CG training mission is a lot more fun than a CG rescue. BTDTGTTS.
Which means a rescue is better training than a training mission.
