My wife and I purchased a 2014 FW H190 last year, our first summer was most enjoyable. We have decided we are definitely boat people! Being the typical guy I'm ready to upgrade already - I don't have the wife talked into that yet though ;-)

Our upgrade is a couple years away, but, always looking/dreaming we went to the Minneapolis boat show this past weekend. I'd like to upgrade to a 23' range boat next time around, still trailer-able, but bigger.

Anyways, one boat that really got me excited was the Bryant Calandra. We looked at all the other 23 footers and this boat seemed to be above and beyond the others we looked at.

If any of you are thinking about getting into this size boat, take a look. Felt like a 25-26'er from the inside.

I thought it was built much better than the Chaps, Searays, FW's, etc, and even nicer than the Cobalts IMO.

Even more impressive was the layout.

I have no association with any boat manufacturer, just thought I would share my opinion.

Steve

Bryant boats are some of the best runabouts you will find. Definitely on a level above FW, Chap and SR. The Calandra is one of their nicer new models over the last 3 years too.

The best feature of that Bryant is the double width driver's seat. You know how many times that your old lady would love to cuddle with you driving but it's awkward and can't cause the single seat? Yeah.

I've had nothing but bad experiences at boat shows. Mostly because every boat was out of my budget.

Show her one with a porta potti or pump-out head. That should get her excited to upgrade. :)

Reason #1 I am looking for an upgrade.

Ha, this is funny. She definitely would like a head on the next one, however, she is not afraid to take a quick swim during the day on the water, if you know what I mean ;-)

I'm kind of disappointed that FW has almost nothing at the biggest boat show in their home state. :x
The SR 370 Venture will be there though. :D Been wanting the check one of those out.

I agree, all they say is "18-26′" and do not specify the number of boats they will have. And not only is Michigan their home state, Michigan is always among the top 4 states in recreation boat registration. In other words, we buy a lot of boats here.

The Venture is a very cool concept...a big cruiser with outboards...

Skipper Bud's Lists Four Winns 18-26...if they have every model between 18 and 26 they would have a very good showing.

Just because they don't list specific models doesn't mean they won't have plenty of boats...although it would seem they are not bringing any larger cruisers.

Yeah, they had four or five runabouts last year but no big Vistas. SR, Cruisers, Monterey, Chap, all had plenty of cruiser style boats at the show. I'd like to see the new Vistas so I can plan which one I will buy used 10 years down the road when I can afford it. :D

Bryant was not at the Detroit show but did bring two boats to the Novi show. The Calandra was REALLY nice. Talked to a Bryant rep and I told him how the lines of the boat look really similar to Cobalt boats. He said that is because they were penned by the same designer :)

Great boat, especially for the price. I would say it is the nicest boat for the price and size. They really need to get a dealer down in Metro Detroit as I bet they would move a lot of boats.

As for Four Winns, they were represented by Skipper Buds and did not bring the H260 to the Detroit or Novi shows. Both shows they tried to steer me to the Cruisers 258 which was quite nice.
