Well it should not cost you as much because when I had it done, the job included glassing in a new deck which is a lot of labor.
If your deck is in good shape you could rip up the carpet, remove the carpet glue (difficult) and sand the deck smooth. You could coat it with either polyester or vinylester resin and lay down a layer of glass matt. Then get some gelcoat that matched your inside colors and practice applying it on a piece of wood till you get good at it. Then do it yourself . Only worth the work if you plan on keeping it a long time.
My job was $2500

Thanks for the info. My deck is solid but I caught a carpet seem right in front of the ski locker last night with a shop vac and pulled it up, also noticed some loose glue spots on the fuel tank cover. So at sometime the carpet will need replaced, and we do plan on keeping it for sometime yet.

While most people would just replace the carpet because its cheaper, doing what I advised will make the boat last much longer. If you do the gel coat you can mix in an anti skid agent so its not too slippery. When you re-install the seats, make sure to fill the screw holes with 3M 4200. Where the holes are drilled is where the rot always seems to start. I saw a hole in the port side deck of mine in the exact pattern of the seat pedestal mounting base.
Also under the rear bench seat water collects and can't easily evaporate.

I never understood the idea of carpet over plywood in boats, other than cheapness. Would you build a deck on the back of your house out of wood and then put down indoor/outdoor carpet and expect it to last? Same thing really.
