New Vista Owner, Just introducing myself. Got a steal on a 2000 Vista 268. We have already replaced the hatch, refrigerator, detailed the outside.
Any tips would be greatly appreciated!

The Four Winns website (under "Customer Service") has an owner's manual, "Fast Facts", an online Parts Manual, and other information. Its worth a look. This forum has a lot of information that you may also find interesting. Hope you have as much fun with your boat as we do with ours.

Indeed, welcome...!

We have a 234 Funship ourselves, but I must admit that the 268 and the very different adventures it could offer us has us "thinking" recently about what the near future might be like if we were to swap into one.

Enjoy...!

Thanks everyone, for some reason I didn't know I was getting any replies til today, when someone answered a different post I had put up. Still LOVING the Vista. coming to the end of our first season, and the things that are standing out that I need to do are to install a generator and replace the interior and exterior carpet as the originals have rubber backing that is leaving black dust EVERYWHERE. Also, need to find finger pulls for 2 of the cabin windows.. everything else is great, gonna have the motor and outdrive gone through this winter as well... we got the boat in 2015 with 91 hours on it, and have doubled that this summer alone.

Hot water heater not working with engine running, while powered by AC system, or not working at all?

On ac...heat exchanger works great but if docked for more than 12 hrs. We have no hot water

Follow link below for manual. Read up on high temp reset switch, and how to replace the element. Both seem pretty simple.

The Four Winns' website has a parts catalog and here is the link to the finger pulls (look under HULL HDW).

Do a search here for water heaters issues. I believe there is a circuit breaker or fuse on the water heater. You might also check for power to the heating element and heating element operation. These water heaters will burn out the element if the heater is turned on without water in the unit. According to other write ups on this site, the water heater can be a challenge to remove with the engine in place. It may be possible to remove by partially disassembling it in place. if you are considering an installed generator, the engine will have to come out to install the generator.

The Volvo 5.7 engine is most likely either the 5.7 Gi which is rated at 280 hp or the 5.7 GXi rated at 320 hp.

Older carpet is known to leave the black dust. I just leave my carpet at home. You might check with upholstery shops for some custom carpet made using your old pieces as patterns. I believe there may be a couple sources that have it available, but you'll have to do a search.

I recommend using a cell phone to take pictures of parts of the boat you might need to look at later, or can't get to otherwise. Pictures of the Boat serial number tag and engine data tags might be helpful.
